Experience emerges from consciousness. Sure there are events, but we assign meaning. We substantially exist in the non material world, thought is at our core. To have survived coma, l now believe the brain might be the source of intelligence, but not consciousness. Consciousness is perception and reflection, self awareness. Intelligence the comprehension and processing thereof, the joining of the dots. It’s hard to say where I exist, but not in the brain. While I have no memory of coma, by my research some victims did. For people to have come out fluently speaking foreign languages suggests consciousness is not a product of the brain. I too spoke a foreign language when I came out of coma.
