Facebook wants to allow users to share Virtual Realities, is this one? Technology’s newest interface will be in person, wearing a VR headset. No longer through mouse and keyboard, you’ll be in it. One of the most used application in the world will be the source of many virtual worlds, maybe I live in a simulation. We will create virtual reality from virtual reality, ad infinitum. I tend to agree with Elon Musk, this is probably simulation. He puts it at a billion to 1 that it’s base reality. Virtual or otherwise, this is my reality. I can interact with your consciousness, begging the question do you exist? At least you do virtually. Is existence a simulation? 

I use Google, Apple, Facebook, WordPress, lots of technology. Is my thinking guided by their roBOTS? They say Germans were hacked by Nazi media in World War 2. Are my choices my own? Do I click the alternatives I’m offered when using Google Search? What of group posts on my Facebook timeline, do they influence elections? We should guard against neurological hacking.

The fourth installment of the film series the Matrix, is a movie called Resurrections. Near the start it questions, “is this fact or fiction?” All Matrix films have depicted simulation where reality is virtual, hence what is fact? Today simulation theory is given weight by academics, and Elon Musk. We will one day achieve technological maturity and create simulation. When pondering the question of fact and fiction, I’m always taken back to Descartes “I think therefore I am”.

Reality is an all encompassing question. For simulation theory, it’s computer generated. For Monist theory, consciousness creates it. For Religion, it’s Gods work. Science says, the quark is at its core. Quantum is trying to account for consciousness. Indeed reality runs deep, we have perception and experience. Questioning the source of reality is the best thing about the film series “the Matrix”.
