Reckon I’ve been here around 20 times. A stop over on the way to Europe, or India, and again on the way home. It was my first solo venture overseas at the age of 19. Any overseas trip, I’d fly through Bangkok, go down to Suratani and catch a ferry to Koh Samui. Or fly here from Singapore after the airport. I’ve traveled all over Thailand, north too. It might cost me around $20 a day. This time I’m staying at a schmick resort, next to Fisherman’s village. Before at bungalows in Chaweng, cheap as I could find.
Postscript: I’m over Samui, it’s changed so much, no longer a Thai journey. Full of tourists and cars. I remember them acquiring a car ferry, grid lock today. Amongst the worst I’ve witnessed, the island overwhelmed.
