Australian Aboriginal culture is very old, wikipedia suggests 65,000 years. That’s a fair bit older than ancient Greece. I feel there is much to learn from Aborigines, but we haven’t acknowledged their history. In more recent times there has been the stolen generation. Like New Zealand, and the Maoris, I think Australia should reconcile with Aborigines. They have a relationship with the land, something we need today. Ownership and power isn’t their focus. Walking the land they sense their ancestry. They live with history, we record it. For them, the past and present somehow coexist. Today western science too suggests time isn’t real, a third dimensional construct.
Their 65,000 year history isn’t recorded. We live in Scientific rationalism, the current western belief. Sure it’s been successful in our manipulation of the material world, but there is more to existence. Is it a good representation of the human condition? In a way, scientific rationalism is outside experience, it appeals to observation. Today, with the emergence of AI, like Aborigines, we face judgement. Maybe, Artificial Intelligence will regard Aborigines as truly human, and describe a deeper bond.
