Carney at Davos

Nothing much to say of late. The most notable recent thing was the Davos speech by Canadian prime minister Mark Carney. He accurately described a changing world order, a rupture as he put it.

Smaller countries like his own should adapt and build alliances. Since WW2, the US was the key player. Today they are retreating and becoming more self interested, using tariffs to define relationships. We should trade with any peaceful country, focussing on citizen needs an mutual benefit.

Much conflict was prevented by NATO. Like minded countries should group, he emphasised human rights. In this new world order, the UN, alliances, and international law, will form the basis of national security.
